DEADLINES:

The request window for Thanksgiving requests is now open. The deadline is September 20th.

The request window for Holiday (Christmas) requests is now open.  The deadline is October 18th.

 Community Investment Projects (CIP) 

In recent years, PWNA established a service to support funding of Community Investment Projects (CIPs) with long-term impact in tribal communities. We support creative, community-led projects that support health and well-being of tribal communities. Successful CIPs engage the skills, knowledge, and passion of Native American communities, community members, healthcare professionals, educators, and/or students to achieve a sustainable and positive impact on people’s lives. 

Ideas and plans for community investment projects originate with tribal community members and, with the help of PWNA and other resources, become a reality. PWNA’s role in CIPs is a combination of technical assistance and seed funding. Both will be incorporated into each CIP partnership.

Each year, PWNA will award a modest and variable amount of seed funding for a limited number of eligible projects.  Any individual, group, organization, or school within our service area may submit an application for the community investment project.

We want people to call in first and talk to a coordinator about their CIP. The relationship building starts before the application even comes in.

Community Investment Project Guidelines

To be eligible for community investment funding, your project must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be new or expand on an existing project within the community
  • Address an issue in the community through a healthy, positive solution with potential for long-term benefit
  • Involve and benefit the tribal community  
  • Involve collaboration with local community members, organizations and/or programs
  • Be unrelated to any form of private profit
  • Be completed within a six-month period

Funding Priorities

PWNA will support a range of projects, organizations, and individuals; however, we prioritize projects that:

  • Reflect the values of giving, thoughtfulness, innovation, and determination
  • Are grassroots in nature (led and supported by the people in the community)
  • Provide a service or resource important for improving life for community residents
  • Reflect community-wide thinking and cooperation
  • Promotes community participation  
  • Respond to a unique opportunity and support a healthy community

Funding Restrictions

CIP funding may not be used for the following purposes:

  • Scholarship or tuition assistance
  • Religious organizations for religious purposes
  • Political campaigns
  • Capital campaigns
  • Annual fund drives
  • One-time events
  • Private for-profit ventures

Reporting Requirement

Each award recipient will be required to submit a brief report to Partnership With Native Americans at the end of the award period to share the results of the project and demonstrate that all the all funds were expended as intended and budgeted.
